Hello, citizens of Vernonia; What a fantastic showing of what the city of Vernonia has to offer, great people, hospitality, and a good time. The Vernonia Jamboree was a success, and it was great to see many involved in the parade and the enjoyment of those watching.
I am humbled by all of the conversations I was able to have over the weekend. There were questions on a broad spectrum; I appreciate when people take the time to ask questions rather than spread inaccurate information. Positivity is what we need in the community and politics, especially. I also enjoy discussing why I believe I am the best candidate based on my diverse, non-institutionalized background, and I value their agreement. I want to earn my fellow citizens' votes.
As previously mentioned in one of my Friday posts, I have had a fondness for Vernonia since my early childhood. Many days or weeks have been spent either at the Vernonia Golf course, fishing at the Vernonia Lake and Nehalem river, or camping at Anderson Park. One of my favorite places to hunt in the Pacific Northwest is the timberlands surrounding Vernonia.
For far too long, it feels like the city of Vernonia has been somewhat isolated, often left out or forgotten, just like Clatskanie. When I am elected Sheriff, I will ensure that every city or township has a place at the table and feel just as supported and included as the larger cities.
The more involvement we have, the more significant and influential voices we have together. This is our county, and I am committed to making it a safe place to live for each one of us.
